This time of year, guests at Dottie Wortel’s house are greeted with a hearty, “Welcome to the Bunny House!”
One step into Wortel’s living room makes it clear what she is talking about. In that room, dozens of rabbits adorn the shelves, organ bench, organ top, floor and chairs in the living room.
Wortel bought a large rabbit to celebrate the first Easter of her first-born son, Dave. She recalled spending 98 cents for the 10-inch smiling bunny at Woolworth’s 60 years ago.
“I never thought one bunny would lead to this!”
