Hollydale Holiday Orange Juice Ham
Man Cooking ... two words that really do not go well together, unless you have the information needed to impress your guests and pets. Thankfully, I am here to help out this holiday season.
Why am I sharing my secrets with you? Two words - "kindness". Ok, that's just one word, but a powerful one word, so it kind of equals two words. At the very least, one and a half words.
The real key is picking the right meat. It is way too easy to jack up a turkey and end up with a dry bird that tastes like drift wood. Steer clear of birds.
The real magic meat is HAM! You can go to the market and find hams that have been cured and seasoned already. I recommend the honey baked spiral cut variety. The careful shopper will find a great coupon, and save save save your way to rich juicy taste, and possibly a new wife. Now that is hot and juicy.
Step 2: Get out the power drill and install the quarter inch bit. Bore holes into the meat in a one inch cross pattern, and make sure to get all sides. This OPENS the viaducts for the infusion of step three.
Step 3: Place the ham in a large pot. If you do not have a large pot, a small garbage can will do nicely. Then, poor orange juice in until the ham is completely covered.
Step 5: (NOTE I deleted step 4 because of the hospital visit in 04`) Pour brown sugar and Tabasco sauce over the surface of the juice. Now you simply cover the top with foil, and cook for about 10 minutes on broil.
While the ham cooks, set the table. It's easy if you just copy a picture. I took the liberty of providing one here for you. Print out this entire post and have it up on the fridge for the big day.
I would say good luck, but thanks to me ... you will not need it.
