Buffet Mobile

Sunday ... the best of ALL days, is also buffet time here in Hollydale. I have special giant sized elastic pants and even a special buffet eatin` car. I took the back seat out, and created a cockpit with 500 square feet of driver room. Plenty to house my expanding belly and still steer. I will be updating this post as the day goes by. In my field of vision is breaking my all time plate count of 17 (not counting deserts). Confidence is high ... and so am I ....it's a buffet line!

I did NOT make it to my record number of plates, but had a great time and the best Key Lime pie ever. I am home now wearing my loin cloth sipping on an "after gorging" coffee.

Fargo North Dakota Flooding

In one of the strangest flood seasons I have ever witnessed, the Red River Valley has been on the rise in Fargo North Dakota despite freezing temperatures.

The peek water level was actually lowered a bit from original estimates last week as the bulging river slowed with weather in the 20's F. Springtime here in the Midwest has been a roller coaster ride of having golf courses open one day, and then snow the next.
I guess what surprises me most is that people are willing to construct homes that are in the flood plane. This type of event happens every few years, and on a massive scale every 10 years.


The river, which usually flows about 4 mph, is running between 12 and 16 mph, said Deputy Mayor Tim Mahoney (web site is down). A number of neighborhoods here and on the Minnesota side of the river remained under evacuation, though federal officials had been pressuring to evacuate the entire city.

Speedcat Hollydale's "DISCO PARTY IN MY BRAIN"

I woke up today and scratched my forehead. I found by pure accident a small latch ... kind of like the one on your remote control battery cover.
Of course, my curiosity got the better of me and I opened it up. As I looked in the mirror the shock of finding a disco inside my brain was quite horrifying, yet intriguing. There seemed to be a different set of physical laws of motion going on in there. I shook my head back and forth, but none of the dancers fell down. Einstein my butt, every action does NOT have an equal and opposite reaction.
Next I poked my finger in there and spun the disco ball around really fast. It broke - and now I have a headache. I am also starting to hate that song, "Night Fever".

Antarctica to Pyramids - the lights dim for Earth Hour ... If you live in a big house, and drive a vehicle that does not get 40 mpg, you turned your lights out for show and tell. Al Gore uses 20 times the national average in energy use and flies around in his own jet. Guess he got rich telling you to do what he does not do. By "VOTING" for electricity conservation are you really asking to be told by government how much power a citizen can use? Since I only have two lights, a clock, and a computer on ... maybe we should tax BIG users like Al Gore a Trillion dollars. (my fridge is not running at the moment)
EDIT: "Monday" .... Drew Johnson, the president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research took a little drive by Al Gore's mansion during Earth hour. There may have been some global warming breaking news or something, some documents that had just come through and Al Gore had to read them because Al Gore may have left a few lights on. The spotlights that usually illuminate the mansion were off. He keeps them on all the time - and that's weird. Are you sure they're spotlights, not just in some sort of angelic glow? Gore had his TVs and monitors on. Also on??? - flood lights that shine on the trees on the driveway leading to the mansion. Of course, if he didn't light up his trees, how would everybody know that he loves trees and he's so green?

Dancing With The Stars participant Shawn Johnson had a close call when stalker Robert O’Ryan jumped a fence at CBS Studios. A search of Mr. O’Ryan’s car found two loaded guns as well as duct tape and love letters written to Ms. Johnson. He claimed "NOT GUILTY" and that he was going to audition for the new SWAT sit-com. I think they should duct tape him to a cell toilet!

A Russian craft docked on the International Space Station and unloaded 100 crates of Vodka. The crew got wasted and then sang karaoke that was uploaded to You Tube and said all kinds of crazy things on Twitter. Volstag Lutenslov claimed the West wing as Balkan territory and then said bad things about Alaskans. US officials call the party a giant step for mankind.

Madonna seeks to adopt baby girl Mercy in Malawi to re-gain ground on Angelina Jolie. She plans to also adopt 10 more children and donate them to Kabala. Upon arriving stateside Mercy was sat in front of MTV re-runs with the new nanny, "Star Unit 7"

A sculpture of a cat by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti will be up for auction in New York this May and expects it to fetch $16-22 million. The bronze sculpture called "Le Chat" has been in a private European collection since the 1960s, and the last time a it appeared at auction in May 1975 it sold for $130,000. Bidders are very excited about a cat that never poops and has a low fur ball count.

Moscow and China have proposed the creation of a new global currency . Obama said, "Hang on everyone, I'm almost there ... when America is bankrupt and printing cash like a toilet paper company, it should be an easy sell". 1984 by George Orwell just had a few dates wrong!

Mind Walking

Today I traveled out a ways from suburbia - into the part of my state with small towns ... old towns that seem to have been unchanged by time like the big cities of America. I walked into stores, and was greeted with a big smile, open friendly personalities, and it took me back a bit. I am used to busy people with solemn, low key, stay to themselves attitudes. Is it me, or has the way people act in public different now from just 10 short years ago? When was the last time you had a conversation while shopping or even just walking down the street?
Ever wonder if the way we communicate now has changed just a bit from technology? Don't get me wrong, I love media platforms that allow me to reach a vast audience, and talking to someone in Malaysia on my mobile phone as I am running about during a work day, but when I peer into my not so distant past I see far more face to face socialization. During my 20's I would have imploded if I could not be all over the city Friday night through Sunday. Now my time at home is much more common. After work I just want to wimp out and vegetate! Also, when did life become so stressful? Between the economy and the rest of the crazy things going on in the world now it seems just breaking from reality and creating some goofy post is like therapy. Ahhh ... what a month I am having, I just need a break. I wonder what it is like to be rich, more money more problems? Somehow I doubt it.
Wait a minute, I was just talking about the happy small towns I was in today, wasn't I?
Maybe I will go open a small golf shop out in the toolies and live in a small cabin a few blocks from Main Street. Yep, somewhere way out in the country where I can talk to everyone for a while and not be late for something.
Sounds like a great blog too .... "My new start in Smalltown USA" I would call it.

Everything but Tim Tams Burger

While rummaging around the kitchen today I decided to just make everything I had left into one big meal. Usually this turns out to be some kind of a hot dish or soup, but this time .... magic

On the first layer is two cans of re-fried beans
Second layer, 10 meat patties
Third layer, chips and cheese with taco sauce
Fourth layer, old salad from Wendy's with ranch dressing
Fifth layer, Tomatoes and chili sauce

Not only was this baby tasty, but I am now full - "without needing a large bedtime snack".
