Here is a nifty 1937 photo of Maurice Walsh, noted Irish novelist, fishing the famed Loch Ness in Scotland. Walsh was a beautiful writer in the finest Irish tradition, and one of his stories--collected in the 1935 work Green Rushes--is considered a modern classic. Called "The Quiet Man," it was a semi-autobiographical account of growing up on a farm in County Kerry, and was later made into a movie featuring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
Walsh worked most of his life in the service of the Irish government and was a dedicated salmon angler.
