North Somerset fishing lake set to reopen
A FISHING lake in Tickenham will re-open at the end of this month.
Jacklands Fishing Lakes will re-open on Monday, July 27, following a change of ownership and restoration.
Work over the past six months has included the clearing of tons of silt that had built up in the bottom of the trout lake during the past 20 years.
The coarse lake has been cleared of weed and restocked and the buildings renovated and painted.
Co-owner Penny Roberts said: "Local fishermen are keen to return, many of them have been travelling over the bridge to Chepstow to pursue their hobby whilst we've been closed.
"Fishing is the most popular sport in Britain and is one of the few areas that is benefiting from the recession as people have more time for leisure pursuits."
