Happy New Year 2 U & your Pets

Well, as 2008 comes to a close, I cannot help but wonder what the baby new year will encounter as the months ahead come crashing through like a locomotive running off it's tracks.
Being a non-drinker, the New Year's parties and celebrations are meaningless to me. I stay home! While many will be out doing the town, they will be home the next day feeling like their brain is imploding.

In honor of the new "year" ... I wrote y'all a song.

You cannot do a post on on the last day of the year without mentioning resolutions. Some make them, some hate them, and some break them.

To be honest, I have never made one resolution in my life. Why not start right here, TODAY? Here goes nothing ... my list of stuff to do, and not to do. Dooo daa do do doooooo la deee da doooo dooooooooooo, MY LIST OF THINGS!!!

1. I promise not to photoshop any more New Year Babies ... until Monday

2. I will quit smoking cheap cigars - Only Premiums from now on

3. My blog will have way more JAVA and invisible ink (for feed readers)

4. Speedcat pledges to stop swearing "when old people are around"

5. Stop drinking pop in the gas station that I have not paid for ...

6. More Frenching!

7. Wear more cowboy outfits in public

8. Vow Never to make resolutions again

9. Eat more chicken breasts

10. Stay away from Canada. Really far away ....


I did meet some celebs in 2008. Did I like any of them??? Ohh sure! .... "Biden" was a blowhard though


I think I'll just publish this for now, and open up the request lines. Test my resolve!

Canadian Hooscow!

So I am on my phone Tweeting with blog pals and I hear "I am in jail". What? Well .... because I had NO computer, I could not see the photo at the Mixed Messages post by DCR. I was hold-up in a hotel on the Canadian border using a cell phone like a notebook (laptop) . Not so easy. NOT jail. Not really anyway.

I wonder how DCR found this picture from the Hollydale Times circa 1988? I thought I bought every copy ...


Even stranger, I saw this billboard traveling down Interstate 77
Sure, I know why I am looking at the HOT chick, but how did I get there? The real problem was that my URL was not listed at the bottom. What good is publicity if it does not drive traffic to the Speedcat Hollydale Page? Some people have blogs, some have SPLOGS (which suck), and some have web sites. I have a page. What defines being a "Page" and not a "Blog"? The difference lies mainly in content. Mine is random and contains way to many pictures.
Ehhh, that's how I do it.

I hardly EVER travel far enough to need a hotel anymore. When did the price go from 49.00 dollars to 5000 dollars? SHAZAM ... Here is an exciting slide show for you. (Yes ... just YOU!)



Back to hotel pricing, I thought I knew the answer to the "inflation" when I went into the shitter. WOW !!! Looky here, a phone right next to the throne. Excited, I picked up and tried to call Guido Sarduci in Poland. Why not use some long distance miles on my Gold Card? Well, the blasted thing did NOT have a keypad. Stupid is as stooopid does, I wondered if it was voice activated, and proceded to "SAY" the numbers. One .... Eight Hundred ..... Seven .... etc etc
Nothing! Crazy thing is, it had a fan motor inside.

TO COOL DOWN WHAT !?!!

I was upset, and jumped on the bed until the box spring snapped. In retrospect, this action was worth the overnight price in itself.
Being home again is great. Having a computer and a KEYBOARD again is great. Being as far away from Canada as possible is great.

Canadians are lunitics.

My New Socks

This post is set up in reverse. Starting with the drive home (above) to the morning and presents (below) from yesterdays big holiday blow out.
I notice some blogs with pictures of EVERYTHING ... family, friends, even their decorated house! Other blogs, you will not even see what the person writing the post looks like. My comments have been loaded with the question, "Where is the family?" In my own comfort zone here, and out of respect for privacy, I share limited bits of information about relatives. At the inception of this blog, I was very private about myself as well. Somehow that changed! Most people that stop at my blog are familiar to me. I know "them" pretty well from reading blogs and from conversations here and elsewhere. Sharing my own pictures and thoughts seems natural.
I'll bet a thousand photos were taken yesterday during Christmas. I was at two destinations, and spent hours on the road. The pictures here are just a few from my cell phone.

Here I thought I was on the "naughty list" for that incident in July. As you can see, Santa made it with my presents. Only ONE of them had coal inside ....

Even though the day was 17 hours of action packed family, food, and conversation, it seemed to go by in the blink of an eye. I'm already home from work on Friday night, and thinking about work tomorrow - (ishhh). At least New Years is around the corner!

Miss Moneypenny is one of my favorite bloggers in the entire universe (even though she creates embarrassing photo shop pictures of me on a weekly basis). Christmas Bulbs Are Born Again has a surprise NEW grand baby photo at the end!
Cute??? ... YES.
